We’re back with a new experimental ambient release, Hand-Delivering My Own Letter by Margot Escoffier!
There’s notes of classic new age in there alongside personal-feeling field recordings and the warm bite of digital and analog distortion. It’s half in the woods and half online, an ode to return voyages and finding a feeling of home through recording.
For now, it’s only available on our website and bandcamp. We kept waiting for the right time to put this out, but hearing it recently, we realized the right time is definitely the fall. It’s a great soundtrack for a drive through the changing colors.

Quick rec: I recently stumbled upon the Japanese psych band ROVO. If you like any Japanese psychedelia (or just psychedelia in general honestly), I wholeheartedly recommend this band.
I am just totally floored by this band’s sound. One of those rare finds for me that feels like it was something I’ve been seeking out for years without knowing. It’s truly psychedelic, it’s winding and dynamic, explosive and tasteful. Definitely reminiscent of Can’s Future Days and Boredoms’ Vision Creation Newsun (two top ten records for me). A contender for one of the most underrated bands I’ve stumbled upon in a long time!
I haven’t made it up to the newer stuff yet, but everything I’ve thrown on in the first half of their discography has been astounding… a short list of favorite albums so far: Pyramid, Tonic, and Flage. The drums and production are just stellar.
A very long overdue post celebrating our first physical album! @chameleontreat’s fourth record, Serious Leisure Pursuit. @jowdystudio provided the cover and the artwork for the insert, and we designed the back cover and lyric sheet! We still have a bunch; you can find them on the Chameleon Treat bandcamp page (or send us a message if you live in Pittsburgh and you want one, we’ll drive one over)! @hellbendervinyl made these look incredible, and there’s really nothing more satisfying than holding these in our hands. Truly a result to be proud of!

Back after a bit of a hiatus! I missed the radio show/talking about new music that I loved. I decided to funnel some of that energy and exploration into making some videos of whatever I’ve been digging the most in a two week period, starting with a classic: The Good Earth by The Feelies.
It’s good to be back! I’ll mostly talk about new records, so this first one is a lil atypical. Send me some recommendations for your favorite albums of the year so far in a message or a comment so I can check em out. Talk to ya soon.

Chameleon Treat's single, Dream Song II, has been out in the world for three days now... the reception has been wonderful! Thank you all for checking it out.
We made this short little loop for Spotify's "Canvas" feature. A fittingly hypnotic background for a hypnotic track.
Huge shout out to @jowdystudio for creating the cover art for the single (see slide two)! It turned out perfectly.
1. Wendingen Cover, Jessurun de Mesquita. 1918.
2. Rosékaketoe - Jessurun de Mesquita. Woodcut, 1917.
3. Shell Facing Right - Jessurun de Mesquita. Pencil and pen, 1907.
4. Wendingen Cover, Jessurun de Mesquita. 1931.
We're in the midst of laying out the visuals for a few new projects! In our endless searching for inspiration and motivation, we stumbled upon the Dutch artist Jessurun de Mesquita. Loosely connected to the De Stijl movement, the visual artist contributed work to the avant-garde publication Wendingen several times; the first and last slide display a couple covers he designed for the magazine. He produced an extensive body of work, including a large number of woodcuts, pen drawings, and lithographs. He notably also mentored MC Escher!
Claude Glasse’s new compilation, Camping in Antarctica, releases February 27th.
We’ve combed through Claude’s archives and unearthed this fuzzy ambient journey to the South Pole.
Across nine previously-unreleased home recordings, Claude sonically examines a few of the icy continent’s peculiarities, ranging from the resilient penguins of Hope Bay to the microscopic creatures invisible to the human eye.
Tyrian Purple - Sandy Denizen
The concluding track from Sandy’s recent album, “Reinforced Concrete”—here’s what Sandy had to say about the track:
“Tyrian Purple is a strange and rare color. It’s made with a substance extracted from sea snails. You can’t really see the color digitally. It can’t be accurately depicted on a computer monitor. I was reading about it online, but to actually see and experience the color, I’d have to get up, go out, and see it in person. I got hung up on that idea… it started to feel like a decent analogy for the ways I was trying to overcome my lack of real-world interactions, and what sometimes gets lost in a digital space.”

Excited to announce our newest artist: Sandy Denizen!
Sandy’s debut release is entitled “Reinforced Concrete,” and it comes out on December 29th. The record is a groovy set of noise-pop tracks that draw inspiration from Tropicalia and 90s lo-fi.

Excited to announce the inclusion of one of our artists, Claude Glasse, in the latest cohort of additions to the @carnegielibrary STACKS program.

An overdue announcement:
Claude Glasse’s radio show, Nucleotapes, is taking a break. In the meantime, all 22 episodes are available to stream at the archive in our bio! Here’s the setlist for the 22nd episode, dealing with the music of Alice Coltrane.
Claude is using his time off to help a new Reptilian Snack artist finish a project, as well as starting to dig through his archive of past work.
Have you ever wondered how our records come together?
We’ve decided to start an account on a service called ko-fi that deals with exactly that question! Similar to patreon, you can subscribe to the page to help support us. In return, we’ll let you in on a few secrets, send you demos of unreleased stuff every month, and post progress videos detailing everything that happened that week in our studio.
Head to the link in our bio for more info! Come get more involved in what we’re making.

Chameleon Treat - Honey Bee
Crossing the kitchen to leave the house, one thing separates you from the front door; a docile honey bee crawling across the floor. You back out slowly and leave it for a couple hours, hoping it’ll disappear. It doesn’t. Eventually, you work up the courage to trap it in a mug and toss it outside.
